The 8 day strike at the port of Felixstowe has today been confirmed to begin on 21st August.
More than 1,900 members of Unite will strike from Sunday 21 August until Monday 29 August, unhappy with the 7% pay rise offered by Felixstowe Dock and Railway Company following a 1.4% increase last year.
Currently, neither the Port of Felixstowe or any of the Shipping Lines who’s vessels will be affected by the action, have commented on their contingency plans for the impending disruption.
We are monitoring the situation closely and we’ll share any updates that we can. There is still time for a last minute agreement to be reached but nothing has been offered as of yet.
As always, AFS will do everything we possibly can to minimise any disruptions to your shipments that this strike action will undoubtedly cause.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our AFS team
